 21 Space Art Museum is committed to promoting contemporary Chinese art with specialty in Chinese oil painting. Our role in a global context examine the outlook on the development of Chinese contemporary art and painting by revealing its inner relation and exterior extension to the history、reality、national mainstream ideology. We attempt to thoroughly criticize the cultural tension, being embedded in the situation of the social changes of China, among various forms of art styles, contemporary art phenomenon and reality trend by hosting feature exhibitions. Framing the academic structure of art critic, we connect this cultural tension with regional、national and global events in a fundamental unit, to outline a characterized art landscape and spiritual value. And it manifests that we successively pay attention to the regional art development and the uniqueness of art innovation, while redefine the art represented by the regional culture from a global perspective, and regard the contemporary art and Chinese contemporary painting as the essence of our cultural expression.

Introduction

21 Space Art Museum is a non-for-profit art institution, constructed in collaboration between Guancheng District Office of Dongguan Government and Guangdong 21 Space Arts Management Co., Ltd in 2011. By taking the advantage of our unique geographical location, given on an international、contemporary、comprehensive and cross-disciplinary emphasis, we play in advocating for public and social integration and help you understand and participate the contemporary art and culture.

Our museum is situated in the heart of Dongguan City in China’s Pearl River Delta Region. It is close to Dongguan Municipal Square, surrounded by commercial and residential areas, covering from the ground to the third floor of the Hyphen Commercial Center with 7000㎡ in total. As a bright and open modern architecture in a style of minimalism, the museum consists of four exhibition floors in size with one of the 600㎡ outdoor space in a height of 19.8m. The indoor space of the ground floor with 600㎡ is ideal to display large-scale installations、sculptures and mix media art. The first floor, apart from an office area, provides facilities including café、gift shop、bookstore and art gallery. The second floor with 1300㎡ is designed to display painting and video art, while the third floor is highly flexible inside or outside the space for various art events, such as auction sales、music concerts and conferences.
